India women's team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bat first for the one-off Test clash against England on Thursday .Both teams will be seeking a victory in the four-day Test, as England have been winless in Test since 2014 and India are playing their first home Test after nine long years.A couple of new faces are featuring in India's playing XI, as before the clash, Renuka Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Shubha Satheesh were handed their Test debut caps.

The venue has previously hosted numerous high-profile events, and the one-off Test between India and England Women was yet another significant addition to its legacy. The match provided an excellent platform for the players to showcase their talent, and the stadium witnessed an unforgettable display of cricketing excellence.

 

On this memorable occasion, India Women took the field with an outstanding performance in both batting and bowling. Mithali Raj, India’s captain, played an inspiring knock, scoring a century and anchoring the innings to help India set a massive total of 550/6. Her leadership and skill were complemented by impressive contributions from Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Richa Ghosh, ensuring India’s commanding position.

 

England Women, in their chase of an imposing target, found themselves under pressure from the start. Indian bowlers, led by the legendary Jhulan Goswami, showed relentless accuracy and skill, dismissing England for just 203 runs. India’s victory by 347 runs was a testament to their dominance in all aspects of the game.
